Day 13: Pearls
A classy and fabulous woman must have her pearls. They add genteel luxury to any outfit, no matter if they are the real deal from a high-end jeweller, or imitations from a bargain store — and most observers will be hard pressed to tell the difference between the real and the faux at first glance.
If you are in the market for a new strand of cultured pearls, Mikimoto’s website is a great place to learn about pearl quality and different strand length. Funnily enough they have guidelines for length according to a lady’s age — feel free to disregard that nonsense!
I have a beautiful strand of classic cultured pearls from Tiffany & Co, but I love to mix things up with costume jewels. My most favorite costume piece is a multiple strand layered necklace that I picked up for about $20 at H&M last year. I love how versatile this necklace is. I’ve worn it with many different looks and it always makes quite the statement. Do keep your eyes open at the bargain stores for costume pearls!
Yours truly.
