The Leader of the Pack {Jason Wu RTW Spring 2012}

It’s too early for me to choose my favorite collection from New York Fashion Week, but Mr. Wu, you are definitely leading the pack right now…
With feminine tailoring, peplums, and shorts that require serious time in the Pilates studio, Jason Wu‘s black and white with shocks of pink and lime and electric blue feels fresh, even though there is an obvious nod to nostalgia. The necklines and the bows immediately have me thinking of Mildred Pierce. What I like most about this collection is the juxtaposition of the delicate, classic Wu characteristics — the man does love him some feathers — with interesting shapes and textures.
Now, while you may not be seeing me in a pair of these shorts, please rest assured that I am nursing a major fashion-crush on this whole collection.
Sidenote: how perfect is the film noir-esque make-up and hair, here? You already know my position on the Red Lip, but the eyeliner! The nails! In. Love.

Rubi, I simply adore the hair! The feathers! I’ve enjoyed several close-ups of Karlie Kloss’ — so elegant. Beautiful work!
In this man – and his polished, cocktail-hour silhouettes – we surely have the heir apparent to de la Renta.
I would adore to know which brand of lipstick was used for the show. It’s the perfect mix of tangerine and poppy red.
