Menswear Crush: J.Lindeberg S/S 2011 Lookbook

23/04/2011 § 4 Comments

Women in menswear.  For me, it’s almost as good as menswear-influenced womenswear.  But, unlike menswear-influenced womenswear, the focus of a woman in men’s clothes is not on sharp tailoring or small details, but is placed more on the sensual tension of a female body in a space defined by and built for a man’s body. It’s just dead sexy.

Here, photographer Eric Guillemain captures models Tati Cotliar and Siri Tollerod for Swedish menswear line J.Lindeberg‘s S/S 2011 lookbook.  Tati and Siri sport a variety of warm-weather looks, simultaneously igniting my latest Menswear Crush and providing wardrobe inspiration for all the polished tomboys out there.

A lady must have her ties.

Windswept, softly wrinkled, light as a feather.

J’adore her cuffs.  Such lovely insouciance.

Now, here is my conundrum. You, Siri and Tati make this look good. I fear on me, I’ll just look like a frumpy woman who borrowed her husband’s clothes. You need the right attitude and you totally rock it. I’ll leave it to the experts and admire the results;)

  • I absolutely love the first image here. I can’t work the Annie Hall look, Lani is right maybe I just don’t have the right attitude. I can totally see you in this brand.

I completely agree with your first paragraph. Nothing is more sexy than a woman wearing a smoking. That’s why Yves Saint Laurent’s became such an iconic item after all. And did you know this quote by Catherine Deneuve “Being feminine is having a bit of virility.”?
Love the images in your post ; I’d wear it all.

  • Mariah says:

I honestly think all women can pull this aesthetic off — it really is about being comfortable in the look. Suppose I will just have to keep extolling the virtues of stealing men’s clothes.

@Ritournelle – Love that quote, completely. Thanks very much!
