Real Property Lust: Arty Venice Bungalow

27/02/2011 § Leave a comment

With snow and freezing winds in New York, I find myself drawn to this sunny Venice craftsman bungalow, built in 1923.  With its lovely wild gardens and detached loft studio, it would be a perfect place for me to pass the winter months, no?  I would definitely have you over for cocktails and gossip on the porch, cherie!

The loft’s decor is a bit mid-century modern for my taste, but that would be easily remedied.  The bones are definitely there: the exposed beams, the skylight, and the magnificent translucent garage door.  Can you not perfectly imagine yours truly blogging away with that gorgeous door thrown open to catch the breezes from the ocean, a few blocks away?  Or as the hostess of a fabulous dinner party with twinkling lights everywhere and a long, beautifully set table that straddles the threshold — half inside, half outside of that yawning doorway — filled with family, friends, Nina Simone and gin cocktails? Ah, j’adore…I can already hear the tinkling glasses and yellow cocktail music.

Luckily, you can make this dream your reality — this darling home is currently listed for sale. If you snap it up, I of course assume that I will be invited to your housewarming soiree, yes?  Yes!
