School Days: Wellesley College, 1949

These great pictures, taken by Nina Leen for Life Magazine, make me wish I could find Doc Brown to fix my flux capacitor so I could pop back to 1949 to either a) hang out with all these rad girls at Wellesley College in 1949 and/or b) abscond back to the present day with all their clothes. Barring that, I suppose you can officially consider me on high alert vintage patrol for one of those double-breasted trench coats with a fur collar. If you happen to find one, be a dear and let a (Seven) Sister know.

*Sigh* I’m pretty sure you were reading my mind. I have been scouring the internets trying to create this look exactly. This is going into my forever inspiration file. Flux capacitor, yes!
Do you have any tips where one might get ahold of a nice basic Shetland sweater or cardigan such as this?
Here’s a faux fur collar trench in the Wall Street Journal:

Genius! Thank you so much!
SO. COOL. And I second your time-traveling sentiment. Gosh, if only!
Re: fur collar coats – If you can’t manage to hunt one down, there’s always the option of buying fur collar separates, and then pinning them to the coats already in your closet. I’ve seen them on sale at second-hand and antique stores, and for a decent price.
